As an opressor if you and a buddy run a hog your best bet is to place 2 opressor shields right onto the hog so that it is 90% covered from the sides and behind. Then jump in the gunners turret, hopefully the driver is an engi.

This really increases the life span of the hog and if the driver is an engi he can hop and and repair as you cover him from the turret.

You can also apply them to any other vehicle but they two that relaly benefit from it are the hog and tormentor as I find are most effected by small arms fire.

Think about it you hog crazies!

I actually tried to do this with the Tormentor, as it just gets eaten alive by small arms fire given its usually exposed position.

Ends up, the shields don't las long enough, and the only place you can really put them where they don't end up causing Strocket backfires is towards the rear on the back part of the engines or back legs, where they are less effective.

Add to that the shields only last for about 1 minute, so you can only do quick short hops before you have to land and re-shield. Add to that the coverage it gives you is only worthwhile when running away, so no doubt you've already taken damage, so putting new shields on is a pretty useless move.

Great idea in theory, poor in practical application. Probably works better for ground vehicles where you can re-shield very fast without having to land somewhere.

Yeh it works good for the Hog with 2 people working on voice chat cuz the hog takes loads of incoming fire and you can add the shields/repair really fast by just ducking behind a hill or building.

Didn't really try it too much with the tormentor I just figured it would be the only other vehicle there would be any point in using the strat on.

works really good...I started to play soldier with a rocket launcher a lot lately and it blocks me from locking on so it becomes harder to hit

I have managed to blow up the hog by putting a shield on it without anyone shooting it at that moment. The hog just flies in air and goes into pieces and if someone happened to be inside he gets killed by the hog without it being a teamkill. Rare coincidence but makes you think twice before putting a shield on someone else's vehicle.

If you put a shield on the front you can actually run over any other vehicle! Put a shield on the front of a hog and drive into an enemy vehicle and it will be destroyed! The shield will remain intact and the hog only loses a little bit of life. I think its an exploit but its very fun to do!

Oh, well now I feel silly!

Is it really supposed to one hit tanks and everything else? Thats why I thought it was the shield doing it, I've never tried without the shield tho. I need to give this thing some more testing.

it more like takes 3/4 off the tank. and yes its mean to be used in this manner. its rather silent also so some people like to use it to run over unsuspecting GDF troops. (have a Razer barracuda AC-1 which is a borderline audio wallhacking device and its still hard to jump out of the way from a Hog which tries to run me over from behind)

Yes. The shield 'grenade' won't stop on top of an Icarus, it bounces off.

You can kill a Titan with one hit of the Hog... you just have to be going extremely fast. The damage done is directly proportionate to how fast you are going.

I've put a bubble on a Cyclops before, I'm not sure if it really did any good though. People just shoot at the legs or sides.

Can you put it on a drone ? Rumor has it you can stick grenades and mines to drones.
