Default Use the 3rd Eye Cam :D

Many cops seems ignoring the 3rd eye cam as a radar, it is very useful to :
1) fill up the "blind point" of the big radar
2) throw it somewhere important, and lot's of strogg(for example, in the back path of strogg last spawn) . Let the enemy destroy the radar. They feel safe as it seems nothing peeping at them, but in fact they are not

I've found two uses for it......first, you can use it when you get above the strogg base w/the tormentor. Just throw it down below and wait for some strogg to spawn and BOOOOM!!
Second, use it during the warmup (aka:Rampant TK fest before the round starts). Throw it where your guys are spawning and when they land, BOOOOM!!!

Past that, I haven't found much of a use for it. Because you can't see what's going on around you when you're in camera view you're liable to get shanked. It just leaves you too vunerable in a game like this. This thing would have owned in BF, but thankfully this isn't BF it's ETQW, however with everything going on in this game I'm having a hard time finding a good use for it that won't leave you wide open for a knife in the back.

it's potentially very poweful if GDF is defending.

Great points by OP. 3rd Eye is really useful in the sewers as a radar if the Strogg keep harrassing the Spillway station and disabling your radar deployments there.

It's a rather sneaky way of taking out vehicles, too, if you're nearby - say a Hog's driving past, jump out from cover and attach the camera to the vehicle as it drives past - then you can just spectate the hog for a little bit before detonating it... most of the time they don't even realise it's attached
Also, it's useful for setting up near planted HE Charges, the radar will help you see if a Constructor is trying to disarm, then you just switch it on and explode the guy!

I've taken a Tormentor out by attaching a third eye cam to it - it gave me an unsuspecting mobile radar for a while, then destroyed the thing - that was fun!

Gotta try those!

My clanmates and I have tried a neat little trick with the cam and the mines of an engy class. (We did this in an empty server with bots, no Vote Kicking, don't worry about that!)

Get the Engy to place mines on the road that runs past the EMP, fairly close together but not too close. Then place your camera near one of the mines. The engy doesn't even need to arm them (he can move on to the emp, and just leave them for you).

When you see a cyclops come out of the Strogg base, find a place to hide and switch to the camera. If you can, get a team mate to draw the Cyclops towards the mines with the Titan (fire and retreat). As soon as the Cyclops gets within range of the mines and the Camera, detonate the Cam. It should set off the mines and blow up the cyclops (or most other vehicles).

This little trick works most of the time... but if the mines are just a bit to fair away, the chain reaction won't happen. It takes a few tries to get it right, but it works great when you get it!

I use the camera when hacking the sewer controls I place it close by and it gives me a radar to see when someone's coming to get me, if they happen to walk past it I can kill them too.

I also use it when using the sniper rifle in the hills, then I can see anyone sneaking up on me.

I just wish it exploded as soon as i hit the detonate button.
it is nice to put on the wall breach along with your friends HE charge.

seeing a strogg defender run up the glowing light and then notice the cam is hilarious when you look at it from his perspective "do i try to disarm, is anyone watching that thing"..

Oh yeah, something else that I absolutely always do on Sewer when playing as a Covert Ops is head straight for the first capturable spawn point, put down a radar in the hills nearby, then capture the Hilltop Spawn point ASAP, and plant a Third Eye Camera on the capture point.
That way you get a quick short-range radar while you're waiting for your full radar to be deployed, advance notice of any Strogg trying to recapture the spawn point, and if you're paying attention to the radar you can blow them up before they liberate the spawn

They also work well on Husky's ...instead of placing HE charges and having to time them to explode. Just drop the Husky off next to a turret or radar and let it go ...it won't take it out like a HE charge ...but it's usually good enough to disable it.

Also and EMP followed by a 3rd eye bomb to the crotch of a cyclops rips off a pretty chunk of its HP.

Maybe if they made it open up a small TV window on your screen, instead of the whole screen, it might make a huge difference in it actually being used. You could keep an eye on it, while continuing with whatever else you are doing, and detonate it if needed at the opportune moment.

That would be awesome slippy

Def the most annoying thing is having to switch to it and then getting a massive screen which causes you to be very vunerable. Perhaps something like the minimap sliding out from the side or something.

I second that idea, would be extremely useful.

You drop the cam, set it's angle then it sends info to your 'monitor'. If you need to change position/detonate - you still need to switch back to the item.

Love it.

I use them all the time when I am hacking the controls. I just put them in one of the doorways so I have a small radar but also if strogg are coming I just stop hacking and blow them up when they come and then start hacking again.
