Default Fun with the Desicrator (probably a glitch too)

If you take the desicrator behind the GDF main base you can actually get it to hop over the wall. Not sure if it is intended but here is how you do it. .

Grab a desicrator and move your way behind the GDF base. You'll see 2 trees back there and if you move around the base going right from the main entrance you want to position yourself just to the right of the second tree (this is where the defence turrets can't hit you).

Backup a bit and go at the wall full speed heading straight on, when you hit the wall it will pop you up and immediately start holding the right lean while continuing to hold forwart and boost. This will sort of jump you the rest of the way over the wall and land you behind the GDF base in the blind spot of the turrets.

If you stay close to the base you wont take any turret fire and you can wreck all enemy vehicles and trash enemy outbound infantry.

Pretty sweet trick, but probably not intended.

There're a lot of bugs with the desecrator that I'm sure they'll be fixing for the final release. Like hovering it over the water while a tormentor is underneath then balancing it ontop the tormentor and flying away. Essentially surfing the tormentor through the skies. Then to top it all off you can go into siege mode and you'll stick to the sky even if the tormentor flies away turning the desecrator into a stationary turret in the sky.

use the desecrator as an aircraft carrier to repair tormentors etc
its a bug, its not intended to go up 90 degree walls.

Flying desecrator? Hmm... could be interesting, if I just had some tormentor pilot to test it with...

It's not so much a flying desecrator as it is a desecrator stuck most likely upside down with a random chance of having a good sight line on the battle 100 meters up. Now if you could only get the cyclops up there... I think they instantly crush the tormentor though.

You get get some people [technician, constructor, oppressor] over desecrator and have some nice air platform with nice firepower

It would be nice to make some tests on empty server with few people, any good tormentor pilot interested? I don't know how deep tormentor goes and if there is any chance to get with cyclops or titan on it [but probably only desecrator can stay in the air].

Is it just me or does the desecrator's main cannon only go about halfway across the map? For instance, last night I was in a desecrator on the hill above the EMP, around where snipers usually hang out. There was a titan on the hill on the other side who was firing down on the EMP so I went into siege mode and started shooting at him. I appeared as if my shots were going about half or maybe 3/4 of the distance and then exploding in mid-air. I sure hope this isn't the case, because it greatly reduces IMO the lethality of the desecrator. And why have a "siege" mode for it if you can't do so at the distance a titan (who doesn't have a siege mode) can?

Yeah the range is limited on the main gun. The desicrator can strafe accorss basically 90 degree mountains tho.. so i think it iss meant to be able to stick to walls.

space:

It has been said many times that sticking like that is a bug. That goes for both walls and mountains.

Yeah the desecrator's uses are limited on this map, but I think in a map where the desecrator is pitted against the Titan close up it's maneuverability will really shine through.

If you notice the sniper rifles also have limited range, around 200 meters. As does spotting turrets via the context menu which drives me crazy.

It's a nice theoretical plan but really doesn't work because it's nearly impossible to balance on top of a vehicle while it moves. Though I suppose you could use an icarus to get up there. Still I think it's just more of a funny bug than a useful tactic... but I can always appreciate thinking outside of the box.

My friend and I have gotten them up in the air before. You can't go into siege mode right ontop of the Tormentor. If you do it can't lift you. You need to wait until you're in the position where you want to siege. Also sometimes you need to tip slightly forward to get moving upwards and only go up very slowly or you'll start taking damage. I usually tap W and don't hold it.

Really the lifting isn't the tough part. It's the turning and boosting that makes it hard to stay on. From the water we could only make it to right out in front of the strogg base shield, and at max altitude giving the desecrator a clear shot at the emp. Nothing special.

I've only tested this in warmup just to be clear.

It could make interesting psychological effect on enemy Much better than smashing Strogg snipers on tormentor landing pad with titan or planting mines on Strogg back sewer entrance.

I see more and more people using Strogg vehicles really better and usually they win there easily, as most GDF players cannot either take then down easily [mainly tormentor] and tend to waste GDF vehicles (almost noone uses Trojan rockets and if someones takes a tank and wastes time with it and you play against decent Strogg team you are really doomed).
