Question should the shield generator be so close to the strogg spawn?

Valley is definitely fun. it's clear though that it's very off balance towards the strogg.

the strogg spawns are way too close to the objectives.

this is especially clear when you're a strogg and you spawn and run out into the tunnel and get picked off by a gdf sniper sitting in his own base.

there are no points for the gdf to capture to move up their own spawns.

The strogg have a very large arsenal spawning in the middle of an objective.

The two bumblebees are nice, but usually get wasted by some nitwit who grabs it a takes off empty to shoot at an empty cyclops.

The boat is spawned too far away to be useful.

first, wrong forum(sub-forum).
thats not the problem, the MCP obj takes too much time, the generator is fine, well should take a bit less time but getting the mcp done is most important, iv seen the gdf hack the gen right after it stops the ssm, then they go plant and defend it, they have so good infantry weapons.

The gdf should be allowed to capture the spawn point next the the bridge, at the moment its only available after completing the hacking objective.

Having said this it might make the mcp outpost vehicles unused

Except if the Strogg are fielding all their available vehicles, the GDF will have to match them or get rolled. As it is now, unless the GDF get in early and hack before the Strogg setup, it can be nearly impossible to crack open a good Strogg defense there.

I find that as a Field Ops or Soldier you can go up the hills behind the Strogg shield generator spawn and be able to clear out that area quite effectively. It's really all a matter of teamwork and coordination.

Are you kidding me? Valley is already very easy as GDF as it is. Anything more and Strogg will never win unless you have an uber pro team. The generator is so large that you can hack it from any side which makes up for the long distance to get there.

Not with only 20 minutes.

Or perhaps you've only been playing against highly disorganized and noobish Strogg teams? I've been in plenty of games as GDF, where we rush hard (and in an organized manner), and still only get the shield generator after its too late to plant an HE charge. Even after a 4-minute quick MCP march. Given the proximity of the Strogg spawn to the objective, it takes a really inattentive Strogg team to just let the shield generator get hacked. Also played plenty of games as Strogg where we held a highly organized GDF team at the generator, in part because there are so many places to deploy turrets and so many places to hide to ambush potential cov-ops hackers.

I'm sure it maybe be different with 6v6, but on 12v12 or 16v16, things get really hairy around the SG.
