Default Your Tips & Tricks

Hey. I'm new to the whole ET:QW beta. Currently people are aware of all these secrets, successful strategies, or even simple clicks leaving newbies (like me) on the floor waiting for a respawn or medic. So post your secrets, strategies, or anything that you discovered that might help out new players.

My tip:
In most vehicles you can press shift to go faster. The Hog (Strogg fast ground vehicle) uses this speed advantage to ram other vehicles doing decent amount of damage to the enemy and little damage to itself. I personally been successful with ramming the MCP for a quick finisher when on low health.

Watch your radar! If there is a point that is congested with enemies use the covert ops "Third Eye Camera" to make a localized radar. This is very key for hacking objectives.

I agree the Third eye camera is important - especially on valley. Its a short range radar that your whole team can see. I place mine underneath the shield generator in the sewers - strogg wont go down there often and are unlikey to ever find it!

Another tip swap to your pistol when running you move much faster this way - and try to run using cover and not in straight lines. Earlier i was a strogg infiltrator for a while (using railgun/sniper), i got 32 kills and 41% accuracy best on the server on both. This isnt because im good, just that everyone was either standing still or running slow in a straight line. The fast runners where much harder to hit

Learn how to convert ammo to health while playing Strogg (rebind the keys if necessary).

After fooling around with all the classes focus one one class at a time and learn to make full use of it. Any asset not used is a loss for the team.
- An constructor / engineer should have a turret up and three mines at all times. Use your HUD to keep track of them.
- A infiltrator / covert os should always have a radar deployed.
- As a medic learn to revive teammates by jumping, switching to the paddles in mid-air, landing crouched, do the revive and jump away again before you get shot and learn to do it under fire - a revived teammate might bring the odds in your teams favor. And learn to use the supply crates instead of spending all your "medic energy" on health packs - they can act as some kind of foward base. And zap those spawn hosts.
- As a technician / medic keep throwing out health packs / stroyent cells in places where they will likely be used (near the objective perhaps?).
- As a technician: create as much spawnhosts as you can. Crouch while reviving / spawnhosting and circle around the target a bit.
- etc.

Learn the difference between fire and alt fire (for instance with hand grenades, Repair Drone etc. )

If your the class that is needed to complete the objective (GDF mostly in the beta maps, but also Constructor if a HE charge has been planted) don't rush in alone and if you rush in with a group, don't focus on the objective at first but help your team deal with the defenders. Before you start with the objective throw a grenade, or let a team mate throw a grenade to blow up any mines. While you are completing the objective be ready to switch to a weapon and kill any opponents, your progress on the objective will be saved.

Learn to bunny hop as well as circle strafe jump to get good initial speed. You can find tutorials in the net.

Increase your situational awareness. Start shooting at head level before the enemy comes around a corner. Paranoia is an asset in FPS gaming.

Use the command menu to create missions for your team. While looking at something press the command button and a request for a context related message will appear (repair turrent, create spawn host, plant HE etc).

Practice, practice, practice. Become so proficient that you do the stuff above without thinking. Instead think about what needs to be done to further your team. Analyse the enemy team's strong points and weaknesses and adapt.

Spectate good players for a whole map and see if you can learn something.

Tweak your graphics settings so you always have enough frames. Always. There is no compromise. Use the windows task manager to see if you are processor limited and consider upgrading (I am). If you do have the frames, resolution before eyecandy.

Basically, use your head =]

- When you're a covert ops disguised, dont look at the target you want to backstab when he looks in your direction. It's always strange to have a teammate staring at you. Works in both ways, if a teammate is staring at you wierdly probably and running always after your back, probably disguised enemy

- When you shoot at a disguised enemy it does the same "dang" song with the red cross that when you hit an ennemy...

- Every vehicule got decoys and also the .. mcp ! Use them!

- You can jump on the top of a Strogg tank (damnit forgot the name). While one is spawnraping, just rodeo it !

- When your alone against a vehicule and you're not a soldier. Shoot in the weels instead of spraying on the whole thing. A hummer without the 2 front wheel cant turn

- In an Icarus, you cant use the left and right key to strafe. You'll need to turn with aiming in the direction you want to go.

- When you're far away from an ennemy, and your aim is quite good, Don't spray at the head; do some 1 bullet shot or some short spray (at the head off course). People usually doesnt shoot at ennemy far away, do this technique and you'll be surprise by how many people you cant kill a this distance with regular weapon

Last but not least: Always apologize after TK (V than 6) and never punish someone except for good reason. I hate people got Tked and complain cuz they're in front of my ATV shooting at a vehicule ...

Enjoy the game !

Why do the whole route with the MCP?

At the end of the tunnel, hang a quick left down the alley instead of continuing forward, avoiding the Strogg AVTs usually aimed at mouth of the tunnel. Drive around the fence, then on to the objective.

Or try the river route, but the above is much faster, and almost always works. For now

I tried the river route with the MCP and it told me I was off track and blew up the MCP.

I saw and interesting one today. The MCP was at the fence to enter the inner compound where it deploys and someone go it repaired and then drove it a funny direction off the "track" (backed it up and drove left or right). The message came that the MCP was off track and respawned the MCP right back at the gate with full health. It was an easy drive to set up.

There is always a side route in Enemy Territory. Always. And if it's not a side route then it's an underground/underwater route.
